Food for Kings is a volunteer group that grows organic-standard vegetables within the village at a nearby farm. Rectory Farm has kindly loaned us use of some of their fields to grow vegetables.
We pride ourselves on not using any chemicals and using nature to provide the nutrients required to sustain healthy vegetables.
We meet at the Farm on Thursdays and Sundays from 10am – 12noon to work the land, prepare seedlings and nurture vegetables until they’re ready for market. We have installed two greenhouses and have a fully-functioning rainwater hydration system. We are by no means experts in growing veg and are always learning new things/ways to find what works.
On Market Day
Work starts on Friday picking the veg and collecting eggs, cress, etc from local suppliers, this must be weighed and bunched ready for selling. Saturday starts at 8am to set up the stalls ready for the market opening at 9am.
New volunteers are always welcome
We are fortunate to have a few experienced farmers to share their knowledge, people with green fingers and others with practical skills for maintenance of equipment.
However we are always on the lookout for new volunteers to join us.
If you could spare just a few hours of your time and would like to help at the farm, or you like meeting people and would like to help at the market stall (or both), then please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07710 191550.
