Our current activities

  • Regular presentations to groups such as Rotarians, the Parish Council, the Womens Institute, Church groups, etc. to describe the work we are doing.
  • Grand Union Community Energy limited (GUCE) established the community funding model to install solar panels on a local school and is successfully operating them.
  • In conjunction with our neighbouring Transition Town, Abbots Langley, GUCE is implementing the Transition Streets programme in six streets.
  • GUCE actively shares its experience with neighbouring community energy groups in Tring, Berkhamsted, St Albans, and other groups.
  • GUCE have documented their experience in a freely available online “Toolkit”. GUCE has applied for funds to explore the feasibility of other local renewable energy sources such as the River Gade/Grand Union Canal, larger solar arrays and wind power.
  • Transition in Kings Rectory Farm is a local food initiative making use of  unused agricultural land to grow vegetables for our community.
  • TiK is also building on relationships with neighbouring food growers to develop the Kings Langley Local Produce Market.
  • We are leading on the introduction of a regional currency, the Grand Union Pound, to Kings Langley and our neighbouring Transition Towns.
